Performing at the deYoung Museum

World Premiere at the de Young Museum May 30, 2008

ADORNO returns to the San Francisco de Young Museum with a premiere of a new work by composer Gabriela Lena Frank entitled Odes to Neruda. Set to the poetry of Pablo Neruda, the song cycle for voice and chamber ensemble will feature two-time Naumburg award winner soprano Lucy Shelton. A champion of over 100 premieres, Ms. Shelton has been an inspirational muse for the most active and leading composers of the 20th and 21st centuries.

Alturas Project

ADORNO's performance at the de Young will be recorded live as part of its award-winning series, the Gallery Sessions Radio Show. The show will feature Ms. Frank and guest host Stanford Professor John Felstiner, who is the award-winning author of "Translating Neruda: The Way to Macchu Picchu". The May 30th event will also feature selected readings by students from Poetry Inside Out.

This extraordinary pairing of poetry by Pablo Neruda with Ms. Frank's artistry will be an intimate work for chamber ensemble and voice that will truly touch audiences. More on Gabriela Lena Frank
